As we've turned the page to 2024, I'm filled with pride for the journey we've embarked upon at Roseville Soccer. New Year's isn't just about resolutions; it's about embracing our legacy while forging ahead with innovation.
Like a seasoned coach dissecting game footage, we at the RYSC Board reviewed the past year's playbook with a critical eye. "Can we do more? Are we doing everything right?" This self-scrutiny is not merely a ritual but the pulse of our commitment to always do what is best for the kids and the Roseville Soccer community. We've celebrated triumphs, learned from setbacks, and invested considerable time and resources planning a successful 2024 and are excited to see it unfold.
We are poised to elevate our players to new heights nationally with the Iron Rose First Team. Our ONE Philosophy has unified our programs, ensuring every player receives a consistent, high-quality soccer education. But what truly defines us is our mantra: "A CLUB for EVERYONE." This speaks to our core as a volunteer-driven, affordable community program.
It's also about laying down a path that we are convinced others will follow, proving that sports can be both competitive and compassionate. As one of the largest clubs in the region, we have the responsibility to ponder the future of community sports. How do we ensure no child is left on the sidelines? Real simple, engaging and communicating with you, our members, for whom we exist. Because our club is more than a sports entity; it's a beacon of inclusivity, a promise to keep soccer accessible to all. This is our commitment to the children and the community we serve.
As we start 2024, I want to acknowledge our 300+ volunteer coaches, all team managers, our staff, the board members, and the 4,000+ players, your dedication is the lifeblood of our club. To the parents supporting every step, your silent contributions are seen and deeply appreciated. 👏
All of us are helping shape a future where every child has a place on the field, playing the beautiful game, while never forgetting that while winning is fun, first and foremost, it is our obligation to raise model citizens, on and off the field.
And as always, I welcome and encourage your feedback all year long. I invite you to please email me any thoughts, comments, and suggestions. I love hearing from you.
Together, let's not just count the days in 2024 but make the days count!

We are very excited to announce the first ever RYSC Lifetime Achievement Award!
The 2023 RYSC Lifetime Achievement Award goes to Coach Dave Lauchner, in recognition of his twenty-year commitment and devotion to the principles and ideals of the club and exemplary leadership and selfless acts of time and dedication for the youth of our community.
‘Coach Dave’ has coached for RYSC since 2003, when he started coaching his daughter’s team. A few years later, like so many of our volunteer coaches, he took on coaching his son’s U6 team, eventually coaching both of their competitive teams at the same time. To put this in perspective, since 2003, for the last 20 years, he has been coaching soccer games on the weekend for Roseville as a volunteer.
In his day job, he is a battalion fire chief and a 25+ year veteran of the fire department in the Greater Sacramento area. Almost every week he worked half shifts to make sure he can attend the weekly training sessions and be there during their games.
The incredible commitment that he showed to his players, his teams, and this club over the last 20 years is just awe inspiring. Imagine knowing you have soccer practice and a few games on the weekend while you are fighting wildfires. And not only being called in to respond during local, but also national emergencies.
In his 20 years, Dave’s teams played at the highest levels, won countless tournaments, and celebrated not only success on the field but also off the field. Because of Coach Dave’s inclusive, selfless and humble coaching style, his players were always motivated and willing to learn, and go the extra mile for the team. Dave lead by example and showed his players how to be good citizens.
Coach Dave, on behalf of the entire Roseville Soccer Community, Congratulations, and thank you for your commitment and dedication to the Roseville Youth Soccer Club over these last 20 years!
